FORM MASSING

Explore and understand massing and sculpting of built forms in spatial design. Understanding basic human proportion and ergonomics through model making. Three models and a final model are made to explore human factors and lighting effects on various built forms while applying the principles of design.

FIRST

MODEL

The first model is to focus mostly on light and shadow effects using geometric shapes. Mainly hexagon and triangles were used at different depths and angles to also create light and dark shadows based on the sticks positioning.

SECOND MODEL

The second model is mostly focused on creating forms and angle it from different angles to explore human factors and shadow formation. With odd shapes, holes where made and planes were positioned at certain angles to study lighting.

THIRD MODEL

The third model focuses on the form making, it makes use of odd shapes bent at certain angles, together with sticks and tracing paper, to give it a mixture of shapes and unique light effects. It serves as the initial development of the 1st and 2nd model together.

FINAL MODEL

The final model is a built-up of the three models while applying the principles of design. Sticks were heavily used here to create interesting shadows while not covering up the third model's initial aesthetic looks. Pyramid shape structure and odd shaped platforms were added into the interior to create a unique interior visual flow and shadow when a light is shone on the model.
